Market Days

A nearby city has "Market Days" every Saturday during the summer, and we finally decided to go and check it out.  I am so glad we did, Grayson had a blast, and Derek and I had a good time too.  There was a small petting zoo, along with lots of stands serving everything from Italian Ice to Fried Zucchini, there were craft stands and fresh produce stands too!  We had no idea what we were walking into, but sure had a blast.

This is the first horse we met (there were several others in another area) and Grayson was totally entranced!  While on this outing we saw "horse poopie" on the ground, just comes with the territory, and Grayson has not stopped talking about "poopie, horse poopie, market" since.  Which is a little unfortunate...but I'm glad that he finds it so amusing I suppose.

Then ofcourse we went around the petting zoo, and saw pigs (which Grayson noticed were sleeping, so he kept closing his eyes while watching the other animals-not sure if he was trying to get them to sleep too), chickens, sheep, a goat, and cows.  The cows were the only ones Grayson was really interested in, and that's because they were the only ones making noise.  He heard them moo-ing from where the sheep were, and immediately lost interest.  Luckily this was also the area with the most animals, and had a petting area.

Derek and Grayson eagerly hopped inside the gate to pet some baby calves who were only a few days old.  Grayson loved it!

There were adult cows as well, one pen that had "milk cows" and another with "beef cows."  I couldn't help but laugh as I overheard a mother explaining the various cows to her 4 year old son.  "These cows make milk, (pause) and these cows make hamburgers."  It was a perfectly acceptable explanation to her son, as he didn't even question it.

We are planning to go back any weekend that we can since Grayson had such a nice time (extra perk, it's free to get in).  It also made for some great family time!
