Re-stocking Fee
Living on base is great, they mandate that you upkeep your yard, there is a dog park, and close proximity to lots of things! However, I am discovering that maintenance is a little slow. I noticed that our refrigerator was starting to get a little warm on Tuesday after getting back from the airport. So we cranked down the temp to see if that would fix it, thinking maybe it had been bumped by mistake. That night when there was no change we put in a work order for Wednesday morning for it to be addressed. I understand that they were busy, but they didn't come until Derek was already home and even then he just took a quick look and said he would come back on Thursday. He came back Thursday around noon, and defrosted some coils on the inside of the freezer, thinking that would fix it. We'll see, it seems to be doing ok for now.
It took them so long to fix it that all of our perishables perished...and needed to be replaced. So yesterday afternoon I went to the grocery store to re-buy meat, milk, eggs, cheese, butter and other random stuff; all of which was either dis-colored or smelly.
When you turn in a movie rental late sometimes they charge you a re-stocking fee, or if you mail-order then return an item. I've been thinking about our refrigerator breaking and I think housing should repay us "re-stocking fees" for the groceries that spoiled. It's only fair.
