The First Few Steps

     Grayson has now officially taken his first few steps!  The first ever was last Thursday (July 14th) during nakee time.  He has been getting pretty good at standing alone with no support, and has even started to stand up without pulling up on a piece of furniture or anything!  So talented!  I love the above picture, he is standing in the yard playing with his latest obsession, these three balls from some random toy.  So for several weeks now he has been getting better and better at walking around furniture, or across the room with the help of a chair or toy.  He mostly just stands still, but there is the occasional clapping (which I love).  While standing on a kids rocking chair in his room during nakee time he let go and stood steadily then took one step before plopping down.  A few more steps followed on Friday and Saturday, but he's been pretty hesitant since.  I'm not to worried though...if anything I'm worried about ME, because once he can walk my life is over!

     In the past he wasn't to thrilled about walking while holding someone's hands, but he has come to like that more.  I think it was because he knew he could get to that favorite toy or whatever faster if he crawled, so he just didn't have the patience for walking.  He's starting to figure out that walking is fun though, after we walk around the room or kitchen or whatnot and he is tired and plops down, he will look up at me and clap.  He's his own support group, and he's a good one.  He also claps when he speed crawls from one room to the other.

     On Sunday afternoon we went back out where we had done fireworks on the 4th, planning to enjoy the baby swing.  Sadly it was dirty and broken, but we discovered that Grayson loves riding in our laps just as much!

   I love Grayson's smile in this one, Daddy was tickling him!

He was ready for a nap, and was just about asleep reclining in my lap!
